NERO Indiana Event Teaser

Note: All the stories in event teasers can be "remembered" by your character through visions or dreams.

Undead forms shamble about the fields, while a man in a black robe moves to the other corpses. A clearly crazed voice calls out "I call upon chaos to create undead. Rise my minion!" You hear it again and again, its chilling echo ever in your ears.

***

The elf walks ahead in the streets, trailed closely by his furred companion. "Keep up, Tal! We don't have all day. Those potions won't make themselves. And if you do a good job, perhaps you'll even get a bit of meat with supper." The wolf licks his lips. It has been a while since he has had meat. Maybe his new master isn't so bad after all.

***

Two pairs of green glowing eyes stare menacingly at each other, one with a gaunt skeletal face, the other's face hooded and cloaked in shadows. The exposed skeleton, his voice hissing with anger, says "I am done with you and this place. I can further my power and knowledge on my own. I bid you, let me take my leave, and show you just what I can do! Perhaps then you shall recognize me as your peer!"

The hooded skeleton is unphased by his pupil's venom. "Go then. See the world for yourself. Make Tyrra's creations succomb before your power. Do this, and we shall see if you have EARNED your respect." The skeletal mage storms off, grateful for the leave, but burning with rage nonetheless.

From the shadows steps another. This armored skeletal creature's eyes burn red with blood and hatred. "Shall I follow him, my liege?" The hooded skeleton, still as the stone of the crypt walls, responds: "Yes. Go. Follow him. And if he should fail me, do at least be so kind as to bring back his ashes after you destroy his assailants. They could prove most useful. May your rage guard you, Kellis."

***

The robed man smiles, showing his teeth. Currents of magic flow about his formal circle, filling it with dark energy. His eyes open as his formal magic completes. At first, nothing appears to have happened. He smiles expectantly, watching as a skeletal hand reaches through the earth in front of him.

***

You are walking down a path, talking to a fellow adventurer about plans for the weekend. Mid laugh, you notice your friend is no longer near you. Confused you look around, and the path is no longer there. Nothing is there. You float in a space composed of nothing. A pair of evil, bloodshot eyes open, staring at you. You struggle to run, but your legs refuse to obey your commands. They are dripping away, being slowly devoured by this creature. The rest of your body follows. It is painful for only a second, but the numbness that follow terrifies you.

You awake in a cold sweat.

***

A woman dressed in furs sneaks into a tent. She draws a dagger silently, gliding to a bed where a man sleeps soundlessly. As she slides the dagger toward his heart, he grabs her wrist. In a second he is alert, his form changing before her eyes. Brown fur covers his body and his face takes the form of a bear. He growls roughly, slashing at her roughly with his paw. The woman stares, astounded - her heart is before her, still struggling to beat, grasped by silver claws. The claws pierce the heart and then her world goes black. Fur swiftly leaves the man's form; he returns to sleep, his hand still covered in her blood.

***

An ogre covered in war paint stands looking at a map laid out on a table. Three other ogres walk in and salut him, and after a curt nod, they join him at the table.

“How plan?” he asks.

“Forces approaching outpost. They expecting no resistance.”

The chieftain nods. “Good. When we is finished with outpost, we head to 142 next.”

The ogre continues to look over the map, and smiles cruelly.

***

A group of monsters sit around on a circle of mushrooms. A dark elf woman stands, revealing the golden sparkles that cover her black skin. She adjusts her crown before speaking.

“We are unaccustomed to being here this late, and my attempts to return to the Woods have been unsuccessful. Cyrille tells me that there is no word from Spring, so we can assume that whatever is preventing us from returning is preventing them from coming here. As such, we can assume that we are given full control of this area, until another Court comes to relieve us of position.”

“Our attempts to contact our kin have been quite successful, though they seem to have adapted to the lands while we slept,” a large bear-like humanoid says. The woman nods.

“We have much work to do. Let us begin.”
